Hi Kiu;
Never even knew such a shade existed. WOW! Now the search begins! Cheers, Mike (shadeless in Victoria!) |

I believe it is referred to on the Nikon price lists as a "43R." Could not use it on 'S' mount Nikkors because their fronts rotate. The 34.5mm shades are rare too, but they are round, so they will work on the Micro-Nikkor. WES

John what I cannot tell from any of the photos -- is there a cutout in the hood (fenestrated) so you can look though it? Pretty much looks solid, does it block the finder?
![]() ![]() Then John there is the little matter of the focussing handles in your photo Tell us about them? |

No, there are no holes in it! Yes, it blocks the 5 cm finder of the camera somewhat, but doesn't block the view from a varifocal or var***** finder attached to the top of the camera. One can just about get away with a bright line, but not the regular 3.5 cm finder. It doesn't block the significant parts of the rangefinder windows.

I hadn't finished, but my computer doesn't understand me! Regarding the lens, which might be described as the "nautical version", it turned up at Christie's a few years ago. I don't know who did it, but I must say it wiorks very well, particularly when gloves are worn. These 3.5 cm f1.8 lenses are rare for Nikons, as they incorporate Thorium in the glass, making them slightly radioactive, like old Apo Lanthars and Aero Ektars. All of these have great reputations and the Nikkor is much the same.
