Posts: 7 (01/15/2007 04:36 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Remove this ad Good day, In the mid-'80's, Nikon ran a printed ad showing several Nikon F3's and a F2 in seriously battered condition. I am thinking that the ad would have ran in Popular Photography(or maybe Modern Photography, which rag was Herbert Keppler associated with?) since that is the photo rag I was subscribed to at that time and would have been between the years of 1984 and 1987, I think. From memory it was a full single page ad and I only remember seeing run one time. Does anyone else remember this ad and would anyone have a copy of it to scan and E-mail to me? But the ad I have in mind was connected to a very well-known photojournalist of the time and how he used and abused his Nikons and they were still working fine. The layout of the ad were these cameras on a desktop with various B&W proofs, slides and etc along with some other paraphenalia like notepads and maybe a diary and photo vest. I vividly remember this Nikon F3 w/ MD4 that was abused beyond belief. The handle of the motordrive had a huge gouge and the F3 prism looked like it had been hit with a hammer. Left a lasting impression on a teenager with dreams of becoming a photojournalist. That would be great if you could find that ad in your archives. Many thanks, P. Lynn Miller Sydney, Australia

I've got a pile of old Popular Photography and Modern Photography magazines going back to the late 1970's when I began shooting. I'll take a peek through the pile and see what I can come up with, in addition to the ad already posted.

Mainly because the camera does not fit my memory. The F3 in the ad that I remember had some very distinctive damage. Now it has been 20 years since I seen this ad and time does do funny things to my memory. I would enjoy seeing anything anyone else finds. Again thanks for the effort. P. Unfortunately, the ad has not surfaced yet. I do remember Leica had an ad about a camera that was dropped from a plane. It is frustrating since I have my stash of old photo rags in storage back in the US and could probably put my finger on it quite quickly. I have a decent collection of Nikon/Nikkor brochures from early 70's(inherited from my Dad) to the late 80's. I will start haunting auctions and garage sales, maybe I can turn up a few old photo magazines. Funny how something so simple can become an obcession. Thank you, P.
