86mm hood? |

Can anyone recommend an 86mm hood to fit the 72mm and 77mm Nikon polarizer filters. I can't even locate an aftermarket one. Since one of the lenses is a
28-200 Nikkor and the other a 10-20 Sigma, I need wide angle. The HN-13 is strictly tele. Any solution would be very welcome. Thanks,

You need to use the Sigma filter, which allows the bayonet hood to be mounted around it, since the filter is 77 at both ends.
For the Nikkor it should work also, since the Nikkor also uses a bayonet shade. For a little more you can buy the new Nikkor thin ring which will also work with these lenses. You will probably want to put that Nikon C-PL on eBay.

Sounds like you have the old type Nikon C-PL filter.
Nikon now sells thin type C-PL II filters (similar to the Sigma above) where the thread diameter is the same on both sides. |

Thanks, Gents. That is just the information I needed. I'm afraid I'm a little behind the curve when it comes to the more modern equipment, having just
recently succumbed to the lure of digital. Still not sure why.

Problemn solved. I have purchased a Nikon slim 72mm and 77mm filter and they work great. The only damage is to my wallet, (Yikes!) and my bruised ego, for not
understanding this new fangled equipment. My thanks to my fellow NHS members for helping me out and get up to speed.
