Posts: 11 (08/31/2007 12:57 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hello everyone ,(thanks Kiu) ..this is my first post here, the vertical alignment on my user Nikon S2 is slightly off. the problem is that the locking screw for the serrated wheel that adjusts the vertical rf alignment has a stripped head and cannot be loosened. is there any other method to correct the vertical alignment of the rangefinder? Posts: 2120 (09/01/2007 10:22 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Having the two images slightly out of line (vertically only) is not really much of an issue, in fact if the RF spot is weak it may actually make focus a bit easier, since you can differentiate between the two images. It does not have any effect on the accuracy of the rangefinder. If it were my user camera, I would just leave it alone. But if you must: There is no other method... you loosen the screw -- and turn the serrated wheel. All the Nikons have a screw that locks the rotating wedge mount. It must be loosened. You can repair it, but you will need to remove the top plate and remove the screw, it must then have a new slot cut into it. This not easy to fix. As you can see from the images below (just now took them in my front window, they are not as sharp as I would like) the screw is not likely to extend past the front so you can file a new slot, but can be removed using an easy-out. This is a repair best left to someone like Pete Smith unless you feel very confident. If you do not use the camera heavily the screw can be removed and left out.
