I am sure each got their own eBay/ auction secrets. They could be legal or illegal and may be related to buying or selling. Who want to share them??? I have listed some that I have tried or heard of to start off or to be criticised:-
1) Snipe - bidding in the last few seconds
2) Bidding with a low feedback eBay ID/ new ID, so that if you did not buy it does not matter about getting a negative feedback
3) Having seperate eBay IDs to buy & sell so the buyer does not know the original price or the profit/ loss!!!!
4) Using another eBay ID if you have been blocked by a seller
5) Getting friends to bid on an item that you are selling to attract other bidders (especially true if there is a reserve price and is declared this to the friends, even the reserve price is reduced later below the highest prevailing bid, eBay will lower the highest bid so the reserve is NOT met)
6) Reporting to eBay as a "illegal" auction before bidding on an expensive item for added security of authenticity of the auction
7) Getting the contact details off the eBay system & calling before paying a premium item so that hopefully can get a "feel" of the seller
8 ) Checking the feedback status and the relevance of feedback for selling camera items (no use of high feedback for selling low priced crap & then having a boxed Noct-Nikkor!!!! could be correct at times too!!!)
9) Ignoring auctions with external links or emails
10) Offering an outside BIN price prior to ending an auction
