I am trying to reserach the last F body camera to be made with the old Nippon KÅgaku logo top plate. Does anyone have any F's with a serial number 6762XXX? I know today that 67628XX has the Nikon logo and one of the first with the Nikon logo appeared on a black body with serial number 6759XXXX. It appears that chrome top plates were the last to run out but need more serial numbers to pin down the exact first nikon logo camera and the last Nippon KÅgaku logo top plate. Any assitance would be appreciated.

just to confirm, my Nikon with chrome top plate is marked Nikon and the serial # is 6782971 ....andart

The question is, is it a clean break or is it overlapping numbers as we have witnessed with so many other items?

I would guess there to be no clean break -- because Nikon pre-engraved the top numbers, and they were seldom used in perfect order, on these bench-built
cameras. The new plates with the Nikon logo could have been randomly used. Nikon was not in the habit of throwing anything away.
