outside box for s2 camera box |

anyone know if the box on the outside of the camera box is how Nikon sent the Nikon S2 to camera shops, the cellophane pieces are to brittle to see if they will cover the outer box. there are no markings on the outer box, the Nikon S2 box fits nicely inside.

Most shops threw away the outside boxes, some did not. The cello wrapped the box, the seals on the ends. This was folded cello, not shrink wrap.
I have seen a few items like flashes with the wrap and seals unbroken, but it is rare, since the wrap would shrink and split. |

Hi Fred;
Remember at Con-1 or 2 in Chicago (1988 and 90) you brought a handful of 8mm Nikkor Cine lenses with you. I bought 2 of them...a 6mm and a 13mm. I'm too lazy tonight to look in my closet as I still have these boxed Nikkor cine lenses. I think those were the focal lengths. These brand new boxed lenses were wrapped as you described, in clear cello with NKK logo stickers on at least one end...perhaps both. In a effort to see the lenses inside, I foolishly broke the logo seal and entered. I still remember that both cine lenses had rubber front lens caps and these caps almost disintegrated to the touch! I do, however, have a couple of Nikon RF fiilm canisters, in their orange boxes, and celo wrapped...with the logo seals intact. I will not open these! Cheers, Mike |

   Hi Jim,
Just wanted to add what I could about outer boxes. I got an vintage S3 camera in box with outer box last year, complete as new. It still has the cellophane intact on the inner box, which you can sort of view in the second photo. Also I purchased an SP box set (inner and outer) if you will a few years back. This outer box looks a lot like your S2 outer box. FYI Let me know if this helps.. Best regards, Mike (7362)
