Does anybody know when the chrome button Nikkor lens caps ceased to be on new lenses? 1974 or later?

Probably in late 1970 or early 1971. My 24mm Nikkor, purchased during that time period, came with the new plastic buttons. WES

That's what I thought, but I'm seeing quite a few later lenses with chrome button caps. I guess there is a huge overlap between the new plastic button
caps and the old chrome button caps.

The caps for the small enlarging lenses never changed to plastic buttons (34.5mm, 40.5mm and 43mm diameter). Have a look at my web site here: http://www.destoutz.ch/typ_front_lens_caps.html

Thanks Richard.
It's so easy to get the caps mixed up. |
