Hello Everyone,
I listed my F2H on ebay a couple of days ago. Since I'm new to the world of ebay I would like to thank folks on these forums for their kind advice. sover and nikonnl were especially generous.
The listing links to a couple of pages on my web site which have more photos and more information. Anyone is welcome to visit those pages, but it may not be possible to access them once the auction ends.
I've had the camera for more than 25 years and always knew they were pretty scarce but had no idea just how rare until I started to research it. I never was able to determine definitively how many of them were built, so I referenced the 300 figure that Brian Long published in his recent book. I don't know if that is supposed to represent the total number of the F2 high speeds that may have ever been made or the number that were produced in 1978. I have heard-but could never confirm-that Nikon made a few more cameras for the 1984 Olympic Games. Most of the cameras which have shown up at the Westlicht auctions claim a 1978 manufacture date, but two have been listed as 1980. I've never seen any other reference to a 1980 production. And if the serial numbers are sequential, they don't seem to match up. It's a puzzle I never could resolve. Again, thanks to all!
