Posts: 100 (09/08/2007 03:16 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Good Morning, I am relatively new to collecting and have mainly collected Nikon SLRs ranging from Nikon F to Nikon F5 50th anniversary edition. My collection highlights are Nikon F3H (NIB - bought from a trusted NHS member), F2H (LNIB even with the outer box & warranty cards!, small paint wear at the MB100 battery knob only) and F3T Limited edition NIB (Champagne) with matching serialed 50/1.4 lens (one of 300 made with all the paperwork etc, bought from a trusted NHS member). Now I have developed an interest in collecting lenses rather than SLRs. Having expensive pieces limits my flexibility of buying lenses. I am thinking of selling 1 or 2 of these premium items to fund them, indeed rather reluctantly. I know one NHS member who still regrets for selling his NIB Nikon F "Sapporo" many years ago for a tiny amount in today's standards. Hope I will not end up in this situation. Please help me to decide which one(s) to keep or sell and the rationale behind it. Also please guide me as to how much to expect when listed on eBay. I have 100% feedback for >100 transactions. Take it easy for awhile...Consider your decisions carefully and wait for the right opurtunity to buy. The three pieces you mention are all fairly hard to come by....Down the road,you may regret selling them. One last note,although the first 300 F3T's came with matching lenses and certificate, the F3T continued to be produced in the Champagne finish for a few years, untill the introduction of the black F3T. Many thanks for your opinion. I do agree of waiting or having a "cooling period". Either way I might end up in remorse. One of the other NHS members suggested to sell the piece with the highest return thereby minimissing the numbers to sell. There is a logic behind it too.

But here is my advice... I began collecting what I loved, which were black Nikon S2s and the black lenses that when with them. Somewhere along the track I became derailed and began acquiring everything Nikon made with little sense of why. I ended up with a bit too much, to put it mildly, and did not love much of it. I wanted to love early Nikons like the ONE and M, but frankly, not enough. Collect what you really like...

If you start collecting expensive lenses, then make sure they are kept completely dry. Some Oz collectors have humidity chambers, and some put they stuff in sealed bags.

So not that rare...! The same would be for the Nikon F, isn't it? Why going after one of the first batch/1,000 F's, and paying $10,000+, if the same thing was produced for 15 years, they're some 999,999 in total, and they are available everywhere from $150?
