I have a Nikon F (serial # 6420894) that has an owner's ID # engraved on the bottom of the back plate. The curious thing about this back plate is that
there are no patent #'s inscribed on the inside of the back plate. On another F (serial # 6403540) there are patent #'s on the inside of the back
plate.
When did Nikon stop placing patent #'s on the inside of the F? The plate with the ID engraved is original to the camera because it was purchased new by the person whose ID appears on it. I am puzzled...but then I've only recently started collecting more seriously. Thanks for any help in this matter. Mike
