Did you tighten the springs?

Bob is not a 1.1 user, but the lens has to have the machined "springs" on the mount tightened or it will not stay in place. Of course no lens should
be loose, especially one with such a narrow depth of field. Also if a 1.1 is going to be used it must be focus adjusted to a particular body. Or you must
accept the focus shift.

Naive question, but how does one "tighten the springs?" I take it that it is the long slender arms that are at the back of the lens mount.
Is it dangerous to bend the slender arms? i.e will they break off ? ...Vick |

Well you don't bend them out, only "up and down." But best done by someone like Pete Smith when they adjust the rangefinder to work with the
lens. I suppose they could be broken off.
Usually just a little twist of a small blade screwdriver will do the trick.

Thanks Fred.
I'm kind of crazy-busy at work but when I find some free time, I'll look at the springs and try what you suggest. Vick |

Only had 3 internals cose by to check. of the 3, 2 are nice and tight while the 3rd one has a little play. From memory over the years I have seen quite a few
with some wobble. As to percentages I could not guess but i have seen it.

The degree of wobble does vary quite a bit. I recall some that almost made you feel it would fall off. But most were slight and some seemed to be only sideways
movement, not in and out. Could be the weight of the lens was really a problem. Hanging off the front of the body could have 'stretched' the springs a
bit. But as i said, some do fit nice and tight. Obviously, the external version was very necessary!

I tightened the springs. It is as snug as a bug now.
