Haven't seen a Nikon camera with this mark on it before, though its not surprising considering that Nikon is a part of the Mitsuibishi Group. Maybe the
camera was given to a retiring exec ... ?

maybe it is a copy of the S3 that they made in China, where patents are not valid, (Mitsubushi has done that before)
