It is not clear from my research as to when NK actually began to market their longer lenses with helicals set up for the Contax. Carl Mydans used Contaxes and when he picked up Nikkors in July-August 1950, NK had to modify their longer lenses to get them to focus on his cameras. This would imply to me that this had not yet become a regular practice. It is possible that by the time NK was ready to make a pitch to the Contax market that the MIOJ period was virtually over. WES

Dear friend, has anyone here seen/heard (or WHERE can I get a picture of the Nikkor-P 8.5/2 MIOJ in CONTAX MOUNT) ? it is for a private project and has never seen one so far in such early configuration. But I do know LSM version has but not sure if the Contax has such MIOJ NK TOYKO 8.5/2.0. THANK YOU.

another card from 11.15.1951, answers my previous question. card is for 3.5cm f3.5 sn, 428104 , lens is marked Japan on the front, no markings on the rear.

According to the Occupation records, NK manufactured 81 85mm Nikkors in July 1950. They made none between February and June 1950. Based on Jan's number and date combination, and counting back from January to July, I would suggest that July 1950 is when your lens first saw the light. Interesting that they would still be putting the MIOJ mark on the outside of the lens at that late date, but a lot of "early" features and productions have turned out to be later than we once...

I have #903949 in my collection, with the originalpaperwork that makes it january 1951.So yours could be from 1950 I think . For the Nikon I you should find a 801xxx, they preceded 903xxx .

Did you get the original caps and slip-on shade?
