Nikon F2 with F eye-level?

To my understanding most finders are compatible between the F and F2, the exception being the Ftn finder that would need a slight mod.

My question is, has anyone used such a combo? F2 and F eye-level (DE-1)
Is the fit good? The reason im asking, is becuase ide like a standard prism without meter, but dont feel like throwing out the money for a F2 version of the
DE-1.
Im not interested in collectible value or period accuracy. Just a standard prism.

Any complaints?...
